The Welcome to Country and firelight ceremony takes place at the Mansfield Botanic Park stage, at the eastern end of the park - a beautiful and fitting setting to open the festival weekend as darkness falls on the first night of the winter solstice celebrations.
There is no fixed seating, so please bring a fold-up chair or picnic blanket to make yourself comfortable. The park has low lighting, so a torch or headlamp is recommended.
Parking is limited at the park, but Mansfield town centre is an easy walk away. We'd encourage you to stroll in as the evening begins - it sets the tone perfectly.
Expect quiet and calm with acoustic music, a meaningful Welcome to Country, and a firelight ceremony to mark the start of the weekend. Dress warmly - it will be cold but it will be worth it.
The main event. The Community Bank Mansfield & District Lantern Parade steps off at 5:30pm and winds through the streets of Mansfield before finishing in the festival space - open fires, live music, street performers, local food and drink, and The Solstice Store.
Gates open at 4pm. The parade steps off at 5:30pm sharp.
Festival closes at 8:30pm.
If you'd like to walk in the parade, tick the parade registration box during checkout. You'll need to bring a lantern - open flames are not permitted.
