Learn Gallery Installation with Perth group Pig Melon. Be encouraged to think about different ways of using spaces, to make displays and tackling problems you run into when displaying in a non-traditional space. Pig Melon is a volunteer-run studio, gallery, and project space in Perth; established in 2019, Pig Melon have presented more than 66 exhibitions and events featuring over 190 artists.

Learn the process of curation and building a compelling visual exhibition out of choosing the right objects and placing them together to communicate. Anna Louise Richardson is an artist and independent curator based in Western Australia. Living and working on a cattle farm south of Perth, her artistic practice explores relationships with the natural world complicated by human intervention, intergenerational expectations and the role of animals in culture, commerce and ecology.

Be guided through the process of creating a portrait- including choosing materials, how to compose a painting for a more striking effect, basic structure of human facial anatomy, foundations of colour theory and mixing dynamic skin tones and building layers to create depth. Ideal for all skill levels, beginners are very welcome. 

 Places are limited. Material costs are included in the workshop price. Morning/Afternoon tea is provided.

This approach encourages attendees to let go of pre-conceived ideas and free up their creativity.
