Massed Voices in Surround Sound
UWA Con-Cantorum and Symphonic Chorus partner with St Mary’s Cathedral choir, the Winthrop Singers, alumni singers, and UWA Brass to present the splendours of the human voice, liberally scattered throughout the majestic acoustic of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
The performance features works for multiple choirs in 8, 10, and 12 parts, with the major work being the WA premiere of Alessandro Striggio’s motet Ecce beatam lucem written for 40 voices in 5 choirs.
This will be a true surround-sound experience, including a blend of thrilling, pensive, and heart-rending works by Gabrieli, Lotti, Schütz, Mendelsshohn, Vaughan Williams and Handel, all augmented by the glory of brass and organ.
