Venturer Mountain Bike Weekend 2023
The Bogong Rover Chalet's famous Venturer Mountain Bike Weekend will now be running out of Patanga Park Scout Camp near Colac. We have made this decision as the closure of the Bogong High Plains Road near Bogong Village has turned access into a 7+ hour trip. This would have meant we spend more time in cars than riding.
Instead of riding at Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains we will be riding the recently rebuilt Forrest and Yaugher Mountain Bike Trails and may include some bonus locations.
Dates
Middle week of the term 1 school holidays: Thursday 13th April to Sunday 16th April 2023
Transport
Meeting at Scouts Branch Activity Training Centre (BATC) (1-5 Legana St, Mount Waverley) on Thursday at 8am, returning Sunday around 6pm. Venturers outside Melbourne (eg Colac) may choose to travel there with their leader, and pay their leader for transportation instead. We will be hiring trailer(s) from the Scout Cycling Team for your bike and gear.
Bike Hire
Bike Hire is available from the Scout Cycling Team, included in the ticket options in this booking form. We encourage you to bring your own mountain bike, but if you don't have one you can hire for $50 for the 4-day weekend. We will be riding single track mountain bike trails with lots of rocks. Hybrid and cyclocross bikes are unsuitable. Working front suspension is also a must. If you're unsure if your bike is suitable, please contact: mtbbookings@bogongroverchalet.org.au
Venue
The event will be based out of the Patanga Park Scout Camp. The campsite has hot showers, toilets, and camp kitchen. Accommodation will be in huts (BYO sleeping bag, camp mattress, pillow and favourite teddy bear). Venturers will be required to assist with cooking and cleaning chores daily.

Pricing
The following is a breakdown of the ticket fees for the event. Both leader and venturer forms have the following components:
- $70 - Food and accommodation for 4 days (excludes lunch on the first/last day). This also covers part of the bus, trailer hire and transport while on the mountain.
- $60 - Transport from Mount Waverley to Patanga Park Scout Camp and back again. Leaders coming with the group from Mount Waverley should also select this so we can cover the cost of cars towing trailers.
- $50 - Mountain bike hire for the 4 days for those that don't have a suitable bike.
