Ill Starred Captain are a quietly legendary two-piece band, hailing originally from the small coastal town of Port Lincoln in South Australia. Since drummer Justin Francis and singer/guitarist Scott Bassham first set out on the road together as ill Starred Captain, their journey has been an amazing one. Their music, which can be loosely called “Folk Punk Surfadelia”, is melodic, powerful, fun and incredibly groovy! The band has very much charted their own course for twenty years, performing all over Australia, as well as several tours overseas, and have recorded a string of great albums along the way. Their live alchemy has to be seen to be believed!

Mark Vincent is a solo acoustic artist exploring old-time, country blues, 60's folk and more contemporary genres. He has previously won the University National Band Competition and Tasmanian Amplified awards as well as being a Triple J Next Crop Artist. He has returned to solo acoustic performance to enjoy the songs that inspired him.

Singer/ Songwriter Shannon Haapanen began performing as “shantarj7” in 2011. In the Summer of 2014, Shannon performed in W.A.’s Southwest (Margaret River & Esperance) as both a solo performer & duo with life-long friend & musician, Scott Bassham. In October 2017, they did another tour together in Northern W.A.

Shannon’s unique sound has been described as “haunting and evocative”, crossing alternative folk & rock genres, inspired by such artists as PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Gillian Welch to name but a few.  2014 unfolded with the addition of Nick Elliott on lead guitar soon followed by Matt Trewartha on drums/percussion, both adding new depths and dynamics. This continues to evolve Shannon’s original material as well as the complimentary array of diverse covers in the mix.

The Port Lincoln Trio became “Blue Wren” and have played at “Lounge events” at The Port Lincoln Hotel and Nautilus Theatre as well as local venues such as Soundcity27 and Beer Garden Brewing. Blue Wren completed recording their first EP “Ode to the 7th Song” in 2020 at Sound Ryte Studios (*available on Spotify*), and continue to work on future recordings.

Blue Wren love the opportunity to support Ill Starred Captain (Scott Bassham & Justin Francis), when touring in SA and are looking forward to upcoming gigs @Soundcity27 & The Wheaty.
