Teaching Kids Consent - Online 27th November 2023

This workshop is an introductory session for adults, primarily parents/guardians/carers that are interested in empowering children and young people with behaviours that enable children to recognise situations in which their personal space and sense of safety may be compromised. We will discuss ways we can empower children to know what safety might look and feel like, provide them with strong language skills to ask for help if they need it, and to identify the safe people in their life for support and protection.
This workshop is intended for parents and guardians of children but all are welcome!
As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) we have held open our introductory cost of $15 per person to participate in this workshop.
Topics include:
- SASS & what we do
- General awareness raising
- Tips for teaching children about sexual consent
- Cultural drivers of sexual harm
- Protective behaviours for children and young people
- Tips for online safety for children and young people
- Q&A (including opportunity for anonymous questions)

Our educators understand that there is likely to be a wide range of views, understandings, and backgrounds among participants. All SASS training events are conducted in respectful and non-judgmental ways, which recognise and celebrate diversity. SASS employ enthusiastic, skilled and experienced facilitators. Our primary prevention educators are tertiary qualified and possess demonstrated skills working across a broad range of disciplines including trauma-informed care and practice and working with survivors of sexual assault. SASS is a unique training provider, with sessions delivered in Tasmania supported via our counselling service if participants require support.
We acknowledge the Palawa people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn and work together and are committed to building relationships with and opportunities for all Aboriginal people in our region.
