This is an ANSD-WA professional development day led by Dr Robyn Fitzgerald. On this day we will consider the meaning, nature and practice of dialogue that lies at the heart of spiritual direction. While much of our formation, practice and supervision focuses on the interior movements within ourselves as directors and within our companions, the Christian contemplative tradition invites us to move beyond such therapeutic understandings to attend to the ‘in-between’ space of dialogue itself, where both director and companion unite to embody a new being, the Christ. We will call this more expansive metaphysics “heart dialogue”, for it originates not in the personality of two people in dialogue but in the Heart of the Christ indwelling in our heart in contemplation.Location
