Celebrate the official launch of Rhys Gard’s first novel, FOUR DOGS MISSING. Enjoy an interview and open end discussion with Rhys over a meal at the Tourist Hotel. 

Rhys was born and raised in Narrabri. He attended Narrabri Public School and Narrabri High School before moving to Sydney to study at the University of New South Wales. After studying and working in Sydney, Rhys moved home in 2015, where he worked briefly at The Courier before launching 'Maverick Cafe' (now a private dining room in The Tourist Hotel). During this time, Rhys also started 'Maverick Bistro' in Gunnedah and ran the Tatt's Bistro in Narrabri, before moving to Mudgee in 2019.

Most of Rhys' family—and many of his friends—still reside in Narrabri, and he began writing FOUR DOGS MISSING in town before he moved to Mudgee.

'I'm incredibly excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the release of my first novel in Narrabri. It's a great town that I still visit regularly. There are plenty of fond memories—from my school days to running cafes and pub bistros in town. A place isn't really a home without its people, and I think Narrabri is lucky to have some of the best around. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new readers when I visit in July.'
