Christians and Jews - From Conflict to Coexistence
The Lamm Jewish Library of Australia proudly presents a six-part learning series with Paul Forgasz, renowned scholar of Jewish history and culture.
Join us as we delve into the complex intersection between Judaism and Christianity in this six-part learning series with Paul Forgasz at the Lamm Jewish Library of Australia.
Sessions will run in the day and in the evening. Participants are reminded that they may only select one type of session.
ABOUT THE LECTURE:
Today, the nexus between Judaism and Christianity marks a high point in the history of Jewish-Christian relations. But this has not always been the case. Since the second century CE mainstream Christianity was resolutely anti-Jewish.
The myth of Jews as the Christ-killers fuelled anti-Judaism and antisemitism through the Christian centuries and it was not until after the Holocaust that the Church embarked on a path towards reconciliation with the Jewish people. This short course will trace the trajectory of Christian-Jewish relations from a position of conflict to one of coexistence.
