Sam Muir: Ukulele Chords; Strum, Pick and Roll (SOLD OUT)
Dr. Samantha Muir is a classical guitarist, ukulele and machete player with an international reputation and wide repertoire. This workshop will begin with participants learning a strumming pattern for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Then participants will look at alternative approaches to playing chords using a variety of fingerpicking techniques. Through practical examples, including a chord-melody arrangement of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", they will learn when and how to apply these techniques in order to add "colour" and interest to their playing. Suitable for anyone who can read tab and wants to enhance their playing on the ukulele and add variety to their use of chordal accompaniment. A workshop booklet will be provided before the event.
