Mounting & Positioning for Access

About
This workshop is suitable for Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Physiotherapists who prescribe assistive technology. Operation of assistive technology always requires a movement whether it be eyes, head, arms, hands or another body part. This workshop will focus on the importance of accurately selecting access and mounting solutions based on the individual's functional movement needs. We will discuss the importance of understanding the movement and positioning an individual needs to access assistive and mainstream technologies to talk, play, work and recreate; and present the different access methods for communication devices, environmental controls, mainstream tablets and phones. The practical aspects of selecting and using mounts to position assistive technology will also be discussed along with how positioning potentially impacts and influences a user’s access. You will have hands-on opportunities to experiment with different access and mounting options.Location
