Inverell Shire Council invites teens and their families to a free workshop, promoting safer driving choices. The YOU CHOOSE program takes an innovative, approach to wellbeing for teens, focussing on peer-advocacy skills as integral to changed behaviours and attitudes. Using passenger and driver choices as context, the program helps participants reflect about connections between intentions, choices, actions, and loved ones. They are equipped to speak up and to act in favour of good choices in moments-that-matter. Peter and Melissa McGuinness developed the YOU CHOOSE mission out of the devastation they experienced when their own 18-year-old son made driving choices which took the lives of four innocent young people, including his own. Melissa is 2 x Qld Australian of the Year runner-up. Peter has received the ‘Emerging Leader of the Year Award’ for Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits.Location
