About
This workshop will explore materials, weave structures and designing for floor rugs. It will cover plain weave, rya, sumak, twill, krokbragd, summer/winter structures as well as finishing techniques. Participants will develop skills to enable them to weave a floor rug independently after the workshop.Participants must have experience with 4 shaft weave structures
Dates: Three sessions: Wednesday 11, 18 and 25 October 9.30am - 2.00pm (includes lunch break)
Participants work at their own pace, can continue working after a class finishes and during the following week.
Participants bring:
4 shaft table loom, complete with tie-on sticks, strong cords, etc
Some rug wool and fabric rags if you have these.
Threading/reed hook
3 stick shuttles (20-30cm long)
Scissors
Notebook and pen
Glasses if needed
Lunch
CSW will supply:
3.5 meter seine twine warp, 64 ends
Rug wool and some rags
Loom available for hire from CSW @ $35/month, (+$100 refundable deposit)
