(CPD Guide: 1 PS, SL) The Northern Early Career Lawyer (NECL) committee invites you to join them in welcoming back Magistrate Simon Brown who will present a CPD at Staffordshire House. In this session Magistrate Brown will discuss tendency and coincidence as applied to proceedings in criminal and civil matters in the Magistrates Court.

- Too much terminology: tendency, coincidence, uncharged acts, relationship evidence, guilty passion, context evidence etc
- Tendency and coincidence evidence: what can constitute them and how can they be used - from choirmasters to sitcom stars
- Notices: contents and dispensing with them
- What to do when that notice arrives: some ideas on effectively defusing the bomb - case concepts, cross-examination etc
