In January 2023, amongst a field of 150 artists from around the world, Australian blues man Frank Sultana won the Solo/Duo section of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee. He is only the third Australian to do in the event’s 38-year history.Just 2 days later he spent 4 hours at the iconic Sun Studios, Memphis recording “The Ghosts of Sun”, his new album. He selected 12 original songs from his 12 years of back catalogue delivering them in a raw, traditional blues style with just guitar, voice and stomp box.
On his return to Australia, he brought in fellow South Coast musician, harp player Dan Sullivan and added some extra touches to the original recording.
Frank has since graced many festival stages including Bluesfest and Blues on Broadbeach, and played sold out headline shows through the first half of 2023.
The rest of the year will be spent launching and performing the new album with an international tour that will include festival appearances in the USA.
