Ava Dunn is an author obsessed with the ocean and the farm land that meanders against the marram grass and sand dunes. She was born by the sea at Frankston and spent her childhood crafting stories while running the beaches of Phillip Island, where her grandfather instilled in her a love for the ocean. Ava’s latest novel Salt was published in July 2023 and is based on Phillip Island and in Kilcunda. The novel was short-listed in 2022 for the Faber Academy Scholarship for Unpublished Manuscript. Ava has a Bachelor of Education P-12 and currently works as a primary school teacher while writing her novels.

Josephine Rowe is the author of three story collections, including Here Until August, and the novel A Loving, Faithful Animal, which was selected as a New York Times Editors’ Choice. Her fiction, poetry, and essays have been widely published in Australia and internationally, appearing in Granta, Zoetrope: All Story, McSweeney’s, HEAT, The Paris Review, The Monthly, The Saturday Paper, and elsewhere. Rowe holds fellowships from Literaturhaus Zürich, the Wallace Stegner program at Stanford University, the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa, and the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library.
