A meeting of two worlds - First Nations Australians have been using STEM for tens of thousands of years.With thanks to funding from a Google Educator Grant, the CSER STEM Team and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mathematics Alliance (ATSIMA) are collaborating to deliver this workshop.
This session explores the Goompi Model developed by Prof Chris Matthews and introduces a lesson plan framework to bring to life a range of First Nations' innovations through a collaborative design process using virtual and augmented reality. Participants will explore spear thrower design, architecture and fishing traps and nets.
Participants will receive take away resources to use in the classroom.
