This year the Choir, under the baton of Jeremy Kerr, is taking you on a musical journey that celebrates Christmas songs from around the world.Our journey will include songs from our own homeland, such as the summery Christmas joy of the Australian Christmas carols by William James, along with songs by composers from our local community. The program features a song written for the ABC Classic Choir pandemic project: “Christmas With You” by indigenous Australian composer, Yorta Yorta woman Deborah Cheetham.
Our musical sleigh will transport us from the laid back warmth of the Australian summer to touch down in the snow and ice of Europe, with carols from Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Ukraine, and take us through to Africa and the Americas.
There will be feature items and solos by some of our choristers and by friends from the local music scene. The ConMen and the Murray Divas, our Men’s and Women’s choruses, will make a special appearance.
