Handel’s Messiah

In April 1742, the who’s-who of Dublin turned out to attend a performance of a new work by George Frideric Handel. They could hardly have imagined that the work they heard then would be known all around the world nearly 300 years later! Over all these years, "Messiah" truly has been a great light, shining upon those walking in darkness, and for many of us (and despite the work’s Easter origins), the Christmas season has not truly begun until we have heard the tenor proclaim “Comfort ye, my people”.
As we approach the end of another year, the Bach Society of Queensland invites you to join us for our 2023 performance of Handel’s "Messiah", this year presented in the version heard by that very first audience in Dublin in 1742.
