The Future Council documentary is a powerful catalyst for youth-led environmental action, showcasing how young people can move beyond protest to engage directly with business and institutional leaders on climate solutions. The film follows eight students on a journey across Europe, highlighting the potential for youth to influence real-world decisions and encouraging schools and communities to form their own “Future Councils.” 

This initiative offers a unique opportunity to inspire local Wingecarribee Shire including the youth, strengthen partnerships with schools and sustainability groups, and position the region as a leader in intergenerational environmental collaboration.

Filmed in the stunning Nannup and Margaret River regions, the film follows local ornithologist Dr. Boyd Wykes as he explores the hidden world of the elusive Masked Owl.

Discover the ancient beauty of Nannup’s bushland, towering old-growth nesting trees, and the rich biodiversity they shelter.

Learn about the Shire of Nannup’s Owl Friendly initiative and how local communities are working together to protect these magnificent birds from threats such as habitat loss and secondary poisoning.

More than just a film, Night Calling is a call to action. It asks us to reconnect with the land, listen to the wisdom of our environment, and join efforts to protect the creatures that call it home.
