Saturday March 2 -
Partnered blues dance workshops with Gaston Fernandez and Jessie Gordon at Ela Rose Studios (20 Chingford St, Fairfield VIC 3078 - MAP)

11:00 am - 12:00 pm: 'Morning class 1': For all levels - Start the day discovering a smorgasboard of blues music and dance including Chicago, Texas and New Orleans Blues.
12:15 am - 1:15 pm: 'Morning class 2': For all levels - Cool moves to help you add dynamics, hit the breaks and feel the groove.
1:15 pm - 2:15 pm: LUNCH
2:15 pm - 3:15 pm: 'Afternoon class 1': Challenge class* - Rhythms in blues - learn to play with rhythms, create new moves and build from simple to intricate patterns.
3:30 pm - 4:30 pm: 'Afternoon class 2': Challenge class* - Struttin' is a one step dance from Memphis danced to uptempo blues, a great and versatile idiom to expand your blues vocabulary.

Note: Challenge class - blues dancers must be comfortable social dancing to a range of tempos, able to improvise with different rhythms and confident in close embrace

Social dancing at Fringe Common Room (Trades Hall, Cnr Lygon & Victoria Sts, Carlton VIC 3053 - MAP)

8:00 pm - 8:45 pm - 'Intro to Savoy Walk'  beginner lesson with Jo Yuen and Andy Firth (from Sydney)
8:45 pm - 1:00 am - Live music with the incredible Jessie Gordon and Andy Swann's Shake 'n' Shimmie Blues Trio and great DJed music

Sunday March 3 -
Partnered lindy hop workshops with Gaston Fernandez and Jessie Gordon at Ela Rose Studios (20 Chingford St, Fairfield VIC 3078 - MAP)

1:15 pm - 2:15 pm: 'Afternoon class 1':  For intermediate dancers* - details to come
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: 'Afternoon class 2':  For intermediate dancers* - details to come

Note: Intermediate dancers - knowledge of the swing out assumed, dancers must be comfortable social dancing

Once you've purchased either the social or workshop passes, click on the 'Buy more tickets' link at the bottom of 'Your cart' to purchase the other passes.

If you'd like to be added to our waiting list, click the Contact Event Organiser button and include your name, email address and what pass you would like.

Terms and Conditions

1. All attendees are encouraged to be FULLY VACCINATED against COVID-19.
2. All attendees are encouraged to use hand sanitiser on arrival and periodically during the night.
3. Do not come dancing if you are feeling 
      a) unwell, 
      b) experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or
      c) in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case. 
4. Refunds will be given if you are unwell for any reason up until 12 pm on the day of the event.
5. All attendees have read and agreed to The Night Owls Code of Conduct
6. Photography and videos may be take throughout the event. If you do not want you photo taken, please inform Shob or Andy.
