Join leading educator and renowned scholar of Jewish history and culture Paul Forgasz for two sessions of in-depth exploration of LUMINOUS: A thousand years of Hebrew manuscripts open now at State Library Victoria.
In session one, you will gather at SLV for a guided tour of the exhibition with Paul who worked as the cultural consultant in the creation of LUMINOUS. Paul will reveal the rich and varies histories behind the texts on display. With Paul’s guidance, you will reflect and learn about the diverse journeys, traditions and experiences of Jewish people from the eleventh century to today, spanning locations from the Middle East and North Africa, into Europe, China, India and Australia.
In session two, join Paul again – this time at the Jewish Museum of Australia – to take your exploration of LUMINOUS even deeper with a focus on two sections of the exhibitions. You will learn about the development of Jewish law as well as the fascinating mystical traditions of Judaism.
