The Sinking of the Lusitania (1918)
12 minutes

A silent animated short from legendary cartoonist, Winsor McCay. It depicts the sinking of a liner during World War 1. The short has been described as a seminal moment in the development of the animated film with its combination of documentary style with propagandist elements.


Just Neighbors (1919)
13 minutes

Comedy short with the superb talents of Harold Lloyd, Bebe Daniels and Australian born Snub Pollard. Two friendly neighbours decide to build a shed they both can share, what can go wrong? Chaos and a feud!


The Paleface (1922)
25 minutes

The peerless Buster Keaton short depicts evil oil barons cheating Indians of their land. However, a character chasing butterflies joins the tribe to win the fight against the villains. The butterfly man? Buster, of course.


Slick Sleuths (1926)

An animated short where Mutt and Jeff are detectives on the trail of the ghostly shape-shifting ‘The Phantom’. Directed by the talented Charley Bowers.


Should Married Men Go Home (1928)
21 minutes

Laurel and Hardy comedy short directed by Oscar winner Leo McCarey. The film starts with a title card, “What is the surest way to keep a husband at home?”
Answer - “Break both his legs.”
The boys with the best intentions are enveloped by a widening circle of anarchy and general mayhem with lots of mud thrown and a game of golf.
