Purposeful Storytelling (SOLD OUT)
Parramatta Head to Health provides a stand-alone, multidisciplinary, collaborative service for people aged 18 years and over, experiencing moderate to high levels of mental health needs. The service is free to access, located close to public transport, and requires no referral, appointment or prior mental health diagnosis.
About our training, Purposeful Storytelling:
Stories create a shared understanding, share information, spread news, share ideas, educate, relate and inspire. Purposeful Storytelling introduces participants to sharing their lived experience safely, in a way that protects themselves and others from physical/emotional harm.
This course covers the principles and practices that inform purposeful storytelling, elements to consider when crafting your story and how to prepare for sharing your story. Purposeful Storytelling also explores the concept of self care and provides tips on how to implement self care into everyday life to avoid feelings of burnout, vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue.
Who are the courses for?
All of our training courses are designed to help educate and teach useful skills to mental health carers, families and friends. However, others such as people living with mental health conditions, mental health organisations and professionals, students and other interested individuals are welcome to attend and will still benefit from the training.
Light refreshments will be provided by the Parramatta Head to Health team for the allocated lunch break.
