David Williamson's Travelling North
About
Set in the turmoil of the late sixties/early seventies, David Williamson's Travelling North tells of the new relationship between Frank, an irascible retired civil engineer and Frances, who has struggled to bring up two daughters. Now, the daughters, according to Frank have started a 'baby farm' and because of this, enjoy the luxury of having their mother always at the ready to do the baby sitting/cleaning.Frank has thrown a spanner in the works by whisking Frances off to northern climes from her home town of Melbourne, to share his retirement in a tropical paradise. Because of Frank and Frances’ age difference of about 20 years, the daughters are concerned that the best years of Frank's life are behind him and that their mother may be stuck with the role of full time carer and hence will not be available for their needs. This is highlighted by the fact that Frank has angina and also develops pneumonia whilst visiting Melbourne.
Let the battle begin.
