2024 Spinning – Beyond Basics with Deb McGuire

Step beyond the beginner level to build on your basic skills to produce a good product. The course involves plying techniques and using different fibres. This course will help you raise your spinning abilities to a higher level, and help control your production to make a yarn desirable for a particular project.
Participants need to have completed an introductory spinning class. Participants must bring their own wheel.
PARTICIPANTS BRING:
* own wheels with several empty bobbins
* lazy Kate
* flicker brush / carders
* a leather or vinyl rectangle to place on lap for protection
* sheep fleece still in staples
* commercial tops/roving in various colours.
* spun single on bobbins ready for plying.
* a Silk Cap/hanky fibre for spinning (tutor will have some for purchase)
* scissors
* scraps for scrap yarn spinning, eg. commercial wool ends, metallic threads, sewing threads, feathers
