About
There is growing data that current practices of prescribed burning are having many adverse impacts on biodiversity across the southwest of WA. Community and conservation scientists have informed Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions and government of these effects yet despite this, there is little acknowledgement of the cumulative damage occurring.Join us for an evening of short films and discussion from scientific, cultural, and historical perspectives about the issues of current prescribed burning practice, why it matters, and what you can do to help.
Speakers include Merningar Elder Lynette Knapp, Professor of Environmental Sciences Pierre Horwitz, BirdLife Australia’s black cockatoo expert Dr Sam Rycken, and Denmark Environment Centre’s Cath Spaggiari and Bart Lebbing.
This event is brought to you by the Denmark Environment Centre and Fire and Biodiversity WA, funded by the Koorabup Trust, and supported by WA Forest Alliance.
