Kathak Parampara with Saswati Sen, is a dance and music extravaganza in North Indian Classical style. It showcases Kathak, an ancient classical art form, with both recorded and live music accompaniment, performed by local artists, all students of Ghungroo School of Dance. The North Indian Classical dance style of Kathak in its traditional form needs rigour and perseverance to learn and perform. Accompanied by live Indian classical music it is a combination of Yoga and music, spiritual enlightenment and physical wellbeing.
The event will also include a special performance by our guest artist from India, the legendary Kathak artist and choreographer, Vidushi Saswati Sen. Saswati Sen ji, is known across the globe, as one of the senior most Kathak exponents and is also a senior disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj. She still teaches and performs at his Kalashram Institute. She will be performing in Melbourne, for the very first time, at this event.
