This most delicate program of early Italian baroque is brought to you by two eminent specialists of early music: soprano Anna Fraser in duo with Hannah Lane on a historic 17th century harp. Dolcissimo celebrates the seductive sweetness of the female voice at a time when the first female divas were making their mark in the opulent palazzi of Northern Italy. Reflecting the unashamedly erotic images of the painters in the wake of Titian or Giorgione, composers opened up a new world for the solo voice: poetic, virtuosic and utterly seductive.
