Saturday
8:30am Start
Immerse yourself for a full day in the world of picture book illustration using traditional media. Create your own picture book spread inspired by illustration greats.
We will explore ink and watercolour inspired by Quentin Blake, try our hand at gel printing (mono printing) and be inspired by Eric Carle, create vibrant chalk pastel drawings reminiscent of Emma Quay and Dee Huxley, creating small lino prints (relief printing) a la Narelle Oliver and Leo Lionni and we will experiment with traditional printmaking techniques used in early picture books through trying our hands at small engravings (intaglio printing).
We will complete the day by exchanging our very own artist trading cards (ACTs).
Be prepared to get your hands (and clothes) dirty for a day of creative experimentation.
Bring apron or clothes that can get stained, a sketch book and pencils, and if possible, scissors, a glue stick, eraser and pencil sharpener and a small pack of baby wipes.
