Whether you have been engaged with sustainability at your school for some time or are just beginning to engage in the sustainability cross-curriculum priority, there will be plenty on offer for all to engage further and learn from each other at this professional development day.
Come and join us on this unique day to make our schools more sustainable. (MyPL course code = NR37030).
Our aim is to support students and teachers to appreciate that sustainability embraces social and economic sustainability – as well as environmental sustainability – and to engage with concepts of social justice, fairness, sharing, democracy and active citizenship.
We advocate for a shared and collaborative approach in this professional development day which will allow educators to; build confidence in integrating sustainability into their school’s everyday activities and key learning areas; learn from case studies from other schools; hear from guest speakers who can support your programs in biodiversity and water saving productive gardening; provide guidance on setting up effective systems at your school to minimise and manage waste; and access to curriculum supported educational resources to take back to your school to educate other staff members in your school’s professional development sessions.
What will participants learn and what skills will be gained?
- one-day elective professional learning program that meets NESA standards and provides educators with the knowledge and practical skills to integrate waste and sustainability into their programs in a curriculum relevant way
- hands on activities; case studies from local schools; curriculum supported education resources
- morning tea and light lunch provided
- lucky door prizes
- a goodie bag
