Event Schedule
The day will be split into three bit-sized sessions.
Part A: 10.00am-12.00pm
Part A will focus on getting to know your camera before we even put a roll of film in. Even 35mm film camera is different, so getting to know yours is vital if you’re going to be able to focus and expose your shots correctly.
We’ll get familiar with setting the aperture, setting the shutter speed, ISO and how to focus manually. We’ll also look closely at how to get the exposure correct using the inbuilt light-meter in your camera. There is far less tech involved with these camera (yay!) but it’s important to understand how to use it.
DSLR users will be familiar with these terms, but the process (although very simple) is very different on a film camera.Together we’ll have a look at the different film types and the looks they produce, both colour and black and white. And then comes the fun part - we load the film and get shooting!
Part B: COLOUR 12.30pm-2.30pm
This is a location shoot with our colour film.
The location around COHORT is like having a purpose-built sets for us. To help us we’ll also have a model so we can really maximise the location and create some extraordinarily vibrant portrait images. I’ll also set a few tasks to explore other options and ideas to assist in shooting some abstract, still-life and landscape image
Part C: BLACK & WHITE 3.15pm - Sunset
Our second location with be all about form, texture and contrast using our Black & White film.
Just like the colour session, I’ll set you some tasks and shoot ideas to explore but this time with a greater emphasis on light and the impact it has on the subject. Our location at The Spit is also going to offer some beautifully moody landscape imagery as well.
