Bottoms Up! A History of Wine
Antiques Roadshow’s Andy McConnell is one of Britain’s leading authorities on glassware of all types and his books have covered the subject from ancient to modern. He was the first glass specialist recruited to the BBC television show in 2005. A history of wine, its rituals, and its vessels have been sustaining humanity for almost 10,000 years. We trace the story of wine through the ages, and examine the extraordinary art and artefacts created throughout history to enhance the pleasure of wine. This talk visits the ancient world, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and 18th century Britain, culminating today, when more wine is being consumed than ever.
