Farewell Lady Autumn by Melka Stansah, meet the creatives
About
Everyone who missed out on the recent production of Farewell Lady Autum at La Mama Theatre - the critically acclaimed play about the first Chinese activist for equal rights for women - or wants to revisit the show can watch the professional recording (by Ruiqi Fu) and meet the playwright, production team and actors for a Q&A presented in collaboration with the Museum of Chinese Australian History in Melbourne.1903 Beijing. Qiu Jin, a poet and a writer, dreams of a gender revolution to liberate women from the foot-binding practice, arranged marriages, and by fighting for women's right of formal education. When she meets a fellow writer she finally realizes that her fight has already begun. But soon she discovers making change happen is not that easy. Then a charismatic ambitious political revolutionary leader offers her an alternative path to achieve her dreams, a more practical one and for sure...more dangerous...
