Having a Will is very important. It ensures the people who matter most in your life are taken care of. Without a Will, your estate is distributed according to a legal formula. This might mean your assets don’t end up being distributed according to your wishes.
That’s why The Salvation Army’s Wills Days are so important.
We would be grateful if you would please consider leaving a financial Gift (bequest) in your Will to The Salvation Army to help us support those most in need in our community. Thank you

Important points:
Lead up to the Wills Day
This Wills Day is generously being conducted by Boylan Lawyers who are donating their time for the day. The very modest fee being charged will go towards a social welfare program being run by the Salvation Army in Adelaide.
Once you are registered to attend, Boylan Lawyers will contact you in the near future and ask you to complete an online form to enable your instructions to be obtained in advance of the Wills Day. In this way your Will can be drawn up beforehand and you can sign the documents on the day without the need to come back for a second time. Please advise Boylan Lawyers when they contact you if are unable to complete an online form, and alternative arrangements will be made.
NOTE: your online form must be returned to Boylan Lawyers at least one month before the Wills Day, and ideally sooner.
How does it work?
Our partner solicitors assist the community by donating their time to help people prepare a Simple Will. A Simple Will, for example, is one that leaves the person’s estate to their spouse, children, and one or more charities. A Simple Will does not allow for the inclusion of trusts, foundations and company structures. If your Will is not Simple, please do not register for the Wills Day.
The Solicitor will be able to confirm whether your Will is simple, and if it is not, they will advise of the additional costs to have it written.
-
The cost for a Simple Will is $100 per person or $150 for a couple plus online booking fee of $0.50. These proceeds are directed to The Salvation Army to a social welfare program in Adelaide, such as the provision of emergency food parcels for people experiencing homelessness.
-
Your appointment is with a qualified Solicitor from Boylan Lawyers who will review your completed form and ask for any additional information.
-
Appointment time is up to one hour.
Do I need to bring ID with me?
Yes, please bring proof of identification.
Do I have to leave a Gift (bequest) to The Salvation Army in my Will?
While there is no obligation to include a charity in your Will, we would be most appreciative if you would consider leaving a financial Gift to The Salvation Army. Leaving a Gift in your Will is your opportunity to do something truly extraordinary, and without having any impact on your current financial position. Leaving a Gift to the Salvos will help to ensure we can support the most vulnerable members of the South Australian community into the future, including people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, poverty and addiction. After looking after your family, leaving even a small financial percentage of your Estate (eg 5-10%) can make such a difference to those in need in our community, and you can nominate that your gift be applied specifically to The Salvation Army in South Australia.
Please see how bequests change lives and change lives with a gift in your Will.
What is the Honoured Friend Program?
By leaving a Gift in your Will to The Salvation Army you will be joining a group of like-minded individuals who, like yourself, are committed to ensuring that the kindness and compassion you have lived by will go on helping others now and in the future. You’ll have the option to leave your Will with The Salvation Army for safe-keeping.
When you let us know that you have included The Salvation Army in your Will, we would like to honour your kindness and generosity. You will receive invitations to special functions, such as our Christmas Thank you event, and it is up to you if you wish to attend.
Thank you for supporting the work of The Salvation Army and giving Hope where its need most.
