About
Celebrate World Lindy Hop Day and commemorate what would be Frankie Manning's 110th birthday with Swing Dance Adelaide!
Join us for an afternoon of live music with Danica's Dreamers (Jazz Quartet), social dancing, a beginner-friendly solo jazz taster class with Vedrana, a vintage clothing stall, community picnic and cups of tea! This event is open to all, including non-dancers and jazz lovers.
World Lindy Hop Day celebrates and honours the historical and cultural significance of Lindy Hop as an African American social dance. Lindy Hop emerged in Black communities in the US during a time of significant racial segregation; by celebrating World Lindy Hop Day we honour not only Frankie Manning's legacy, but the legacy of his peers; the original creators and innovators of Lindy Hop. Read more about the OGs of Lindy Hop via the Frankie Manning Foundation.
Come and help us throw a great tea party for Frankie with dancing, jazz and each other!
