2024 Creating Textured Yarns with Deb McGuire
You are invited to bring along a variety of fibres to the course, (eg, different types wool, alpaca, silk, camel, mohair curls in their natural state or tops or already spun into singles ) to create, experiment and have fun with. There are many and varied ways of producing textured (art) yarns that you will explore, including wrapping, core spinning, adding “bling”, and creating batts with a range and mix of fibres and materials.
We will begin with some easier techniques then progressively delve further into refined skills. I hope that by the end of the course you feel confident to keep spinning amazing individual yarns to incorporate into your creative projects.
Students must be competent spinners with knowledge of their wheel. Bring your own wheel and several empty bobbins.
