PIANC MarCom Working Group 211's report on the PIANC FENDER GUIDELINES 2024 aims to provide a comprehensive guidance on the design approaches, assessment, testing of fenders and fender systems, addressing challenges and opportunities in an ever-evolving maritime landscape.
Developed through extensive collaboration and expert consensus globally, these guidelines represent a holistic approach to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes. Working Group 211 report began as an update of PIANC MarCom WG 33: ‘Guidelines for the Design of Fenders Systems: 2002’. However, this final represents a substantial overhaul, effectively serving as a new guideline rather than a mere update. It is important to note that this guideline entirely supersedes the previous WG 33 guideline.
