Directing the Movement
About
Lead teacher: Kimberley TwinerIt's not personal, it’s movement. This workshop will be a vigorous day of interrogating the Director’s role in facilitating the action and the actors to move. Directing is a job primarily focussing on movement - how does this show move? How does the scene move? How does the character move? The Director knows that the audience will see movement in front of them and attribute meaning to the movement (as well as the words).
This workshop will explore how we can use movement rather than psychological or emotive language to create dynamic action between actors. We will experiment with keeping the Director's language phenomenological and empirical rather than psychological or emotional.
This is for people with any and all experience in performing. It will be useful for actors and performers wanting to diversify their play. This will be an exciting lab for Directors to simply play with new ideas and experiment with a new process.
