The Simple Wonderfulness of Physical Theatre Storytelling
About
Lead teacher: Kimberley TwinerLet’s pare it all back and remember how to play stories with our bodies. By radically embracing Lecoq’s framework of mimodynamiques (the imitated dynamic) we will practice turning short stories into larger than life physical theatre!
This work is not done in one’s head, this one day workshop will involve no cleverness at all. Just a willingness to play faithfully and dynamically with WHAT IS THERE. Students will form small ensembles and work collaboratively to create short pieces and perform them in all their rough wonder. Consider this a day to play stories like children do!
We will use the micro plays to check on technical staging elements:
-Entrances
-Character forms
-Action + Reaction
-Fixed point
-Stage picture
-Crescendo
We will discover some of the wildness and depth that makes theatre a totally compelling experience for the audience.
