The Dramaturgy of Eye Contact
About
Lead teacher: Kimberley TwinerThis workshop will be an exploration of the impact of eye contact. We will explore variations of eye contact as it often appears onstage. Making the choice to ‘look at the audience’ is a decision made for a reason, but what are those reasons again? Looking is an action, not to be taken for granted.
What does it do to the performer?
What does it do to the audience?
What does it do to the story?
How can eye contact be meaningful for the audience for the story?
When is eye contact a writing choice?
Do you have questions about this subject?
We will also explore how eye contact affects the movement of the character/action.
The Dramaturgy of Eye Contact is for people with any and all experience in performing. It will be useful for actors and performers wanting to diversify their play. This workshop will also be useful for directors, choreographers, people interested in public speaking and even therapists/people interested in how humans relate.
