This weekend intensive offers an introduction to the Islamic scholarly tradition by exploring the Hadith of Jibril, focusing on Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. It will cover key historical developments and major concepts in foundational Islamic disciplines such as Qurʾanic Studies, Hadith Studies, Islamic Law (Fiqh), Islamic Theology (Kalam), and Islamic Spirituality (Tazkiya). The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive overview of classical Islamic sciences, including their major developments, concepts, figures, and texts. Additionally, students will learn about the Islamic epistemological framework, the hierarchies of disciplines, and the connections between various sub-fields of knowledge, highlighting their relevance in the modern context.Oct 12 & 13
