About
ABOUT
Muslim Mental Health Professionals presents an opportunity to become a Mental Health First Responder for the Muslim community through our leaders training program. In doing so, you will build the knowledge and skills needed to improve mental health service engagement within the Muslim community and be able to join a network of other Muslim community leaders providing mental health support.
This program is fully funded by the Department of Health Victoria, and is valued at $5300 per person. You will receive religiously and culturally-sensitive training in mental health literacy, treatment seeking, counselling skills, referral pathways and accredited intervention delivery. The training will cover Suicide Prevention Alertness by Educaid Australia, as well as Family Consultations and Single Session Thinking by La Trobe University’s, The Bouverie Centre. Ongoing individual and group supervision support will also be provided by registered psychologists with some training in Islamic psychology.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Be an active member of the Muslim community in a leadership role.
TIME COMMITMENT (JULY 2024 - SEPTEMBER 2025)
Across 15 months:
- 2.5 day face-to-face training
- 2.5 day online training/group supervision
- 2 self-paced learning modules/individual supervision
