Moving Beyond the Individual

Outside the therapy room our clients exist in families, communities, religious congregations, workplaces, sports teams, and social groups. They are neighbours and friends, colleagues, or classmates. Utilising a systemic approach to individual work allows the therapy to expand beyond the relationship in the room.
This training uses case examples to bring theory to life as we explore how a systemic approach to individual work can expand opportunities for change.
- Consolidate your understanding of the theoretical framework underpinning systems theory.
- Explore the introduction of self, using both an individual and systemic framework.
- Explore ways to assess a client's system and consider the systemic impacts on therapy.
- Explore ways to expand an impoverished system around an isolated client.
- Use case examples to explore systemic practice in use.
This training will appeal to psychologists, social workers, or community workers.
