FOCH fund raising event- HIDDEN SILVER TREASURES

The use of silver dates from the earliest historic records. it was one of the earliest metals used to make coins and its malleability has made it suitable for use in jewellery, ornaments, lustrous silverware and many other uses. Learn more about this unique and precious metal and discover hidden treasures, including some pieces in the Carrick Hill collection, from our quest speaker Richard Phillips.
Richard has a long-standing interest in silverware and is a member of the Silver Society of Australia and the Australiana Society. He has contributed articles ton the journals of each of these and has carried out research for the book ' Nineteenth Century Australian Silver' by John Hawkins. He was also involved in research and sourcing objects for the exhibition ' Bounty' mounted by the Art Gallery of SA.
