PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS – CAREERS DAY FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING GREEK LANGUAGE SCHOOLS.

Seek inspiration. Broaden your horizons. Embrace your heritage. Build your network. 

The Hellenic Medical Society of Australia (HMSA) and the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM), brings to you a Careers Day that has the students’ interests at its core. We have a dynamic group of Greek-Australian professionals, from a variety of professional fields, who are keen to interact with you, answer your questions and invest time into your future.  

Current University students will also be present to answer any of your questions.

This is a free event but bookings are essential. Secure your spot early! 

 

WHO? WHEN? WHERE?  

Who should attend? Students in Years 10-12 at a school that teaches Greek. This includes the Greek Community Schools, Greek Language Schools, as well as day schools where Greek is taught (eg Alphington Grammar, Oakleigh Grammar, St Johns College) 

When?  Saturday 7th September 2024, 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Registration desk will be open from 1pm. 

Where?  Mezzanine level, The Greek Centre, 168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.

1:00pm-1:30pm – Registrations & Coffee/Hot Chocolate (Come within this timeframe to Register, collect your badge, show bag and other goodies). 

1:30pm-1:40pm – Welcome & Introduction

3. FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

a) Why do I need to Register? Registrations will help us know how many students will be attending and given the limited number of spaces, it will allow us to more efficiently organise the smaller group sessions.

b) Can I rock up on the day without registering? Only students who have pre-registered will be able to attend. 

c) Why do you need my contact details? So that we can keep you updated about this event. You will not be spammed by the HMSA or the GCM. 

d) If I am in year 9 at my day school but in year 10 at Greek school, can I attend the event? Yes, you are eligible to attend based on your year level at the Greek school. 

e) If I have already graduated from Greek School, but am currently in Year 12 at my day school, am I able to attend? Yes, you are eligible to attend.

f) What is the dress code? This is a Professional event, so please dress Smart or Business Casual. 

g) How do I contact someone? Please email: hmsacareersday@gmail.com and you will receive a reply within 48 hours. 

h) Do parents need to accompany the student? There is no requirement for parents to attend the event. Owing to space limitations and limited spots, only one parent per child can attend and must be pre-registered. 

i) Will I be able to talk to any of the professionals on the list? Yes, following the smaller group sessions, there will be an opportunity for you to network and speak to any of the professionals on the list.  

j) How do I find out more details about the Professionals? There will be updates through social media as well as through the HMSA website.
