The long and bloody history of conflict between the Israeli and Palestinian people could not seem further from resolution. And the ICJ has found that there is a plausible case of genocide against Israel. What responsibilities does Australia have in our response to the Gaza conflict? Are we doing enough? What constraints do we face on our ability to do the right thing internationally?

Sarah Schwartz is a human rights lawyer and Executive Officer of the Jewish Council of Australia. She rejects the idea that criticism of Israel's government is antisemitic. She has written for publications including The Age, The Guardian, Crikey, The Conversation, and academic journals.
