About

Circles, rooted in many indigenous cultures, are used for community support and important discussions. Circle pedagogy, a key element of Restorative Practice, fosters safe, respectful, and connected school communities.

The core content of this workshop with Kristy Elliott will include:
- Understand circles as a keystone of Restorative Practice
- Identify theoretical underpinnings (e.g., self-determination theory, wellbeing theory)
- Explore alignment with the Australian Curriculum and the Australian Student Wellbeing Framework
- Engage with different circle structures to demonstrate variations in the pedagogy (e.g., community building, addressing issues of concern, curriculum focused)
- Guided planning time to enable participants to immediately apply their learning and leave with strategies and tools ready to enact in their setting

Suitable for: primary & secondary educators and other professionals working with students in a school setting (e.g., counsellors, social/youth workers).
