Ricky York: A Rewrite of Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III’

Dates

The Forge 3/164 Gipps Road, Gwynneville, NSW, 2500

About

An absurdist tragic tale inspired by the likes of “bubblegum horror” (Think ‘Heathers’, ‘Jennifer’s Body’, ‘Do Revenge’, ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’, and ‘Jawbreaker’.) It is based on Shakespeare’s historical tragedy ‘Richard III’; about a devilishly evil man who lusts for the British throne.

A group of long-time companions at Rosenbury are preparing for a night of celebration after their families’ horses win big in the preceding week’s races. One, Ricky York, is deadset on making this night absolutely miserable for everyone involved, maybe even secretly for themselves. This original show is an unwarranted gift of glorious sadism and satire, wrapped in a uniquely colourful depiction of guts and gore.

*CONTENT WARNING*
This show contains flashing lights, loud noises, harsh cursing including the use of two queer slurs, depictions of murder, death, physical violence, self harm, suicidal ideation and abstract depictions of blood, vomit, gore and severed animal body parts.
