Presented by Fr Michael Kelly for The Call To Be.These talks take as their starting point the collections of “Sayings” of the Christian desert
elders from the fourth and fifth centuries in Egypt. Although some of the material is esoteric,
there is much wisdom that can be distilled and is relevant to the present time. Lectio Divina
will be presented as a practice coming from this tradition, and time given to the experience of
it. Finally, there will be a presentation on John Cassian who brought the tradition to the West,
and contemporary interest in his methodology.
